Janurary 9th, 2010: Day #1- Kickoff
January 9th 8:00am. The most important day in the Robotics Season. Why? It’s Kickoff day! All over the country, the Intellectual Superior people of their respective schools were all watching a live webcast; waiting for Dean Kamen to reveal this year’s game. Luckily for us, we were not alone at North. We, in the spirit of Robotics, hosted Blue Valley High’s team. “Gracious Professionalism” as Mr. Ritter put it. So what is this year’s game? (Pic 1) It’s a soccer like game. After the webcast, the team moved to the computer room and read over the rules. (Pic 2) Sadly, we cannot mount a flamethrower on the bot and torch the competition. By now it was around 1 o’clock, and even we have to eat. What was for lunch? PIZZA! (Pic 3) Finished with reading the rules, it came down to Strategy and Design of the robot. In order to maximize effectiveness, we split into 2 groups; one led by Ashwyn, the other by Jeff. We simply ran through all the possible designs of a robot, and are still deciding at this very moment.
