Janurary 25th, 2010: Day #17- Workday
“What are you doing?” “Folding.”
January 25th. Day…I’ve lost track of them again… I think its day 17. Or 16. Or 18. Some number. Day 17, this time for sure. It’s Tuesday. No, hang on, it’s Monday. It’s also spirit week at BVN! Pajama day! Anyways, Season is starting to pick up again, as we have manufacturing parts for the full robot. Public Relations, as Deepa so wisely put it, is folding…Yay. I proceeded to ask another member of Public Relations what they are doing. This time I got a reasonable answer. They’re working on letters to send out to companies for asking for sponsorship. Ryan Harkins worked on learning 3ds Max (yes, he’s the 3rd person to be learning it). He, today, animated a person, or something that looks strikingly like a person, to wave their (or it’s) hand and then to lose it head. Literally. Sheila spent some time online creating MMR clothing. David and I think we should have a Metal Mustangs Catalog for all of our adoring fans to buy paraphernalia. Speaking of David, he would apparently like to own Robotics sweatpants. More than I’ve ever cared to know about him. Well, he worked on the website today as well as printing off brochures for the places he’s going store-to-store to on Thursday. And that printing process was, and I quote, an “abnormally long printing process.” I’d also have to agree with him, seeing as it took a full 40 minutes to print 16 pages. 40 minutes, 16 pages, and a half-dozen trips to the Library to collect the aforementioned pages. Programming, like in the past, has been working on the mecanum drive. And, to further impede progress, the mecanum wheels we ordered some week ago still have not come in yet. Kinda hard to test wheels we don’t have possession of. Jeff hooked up his full motion kicker device that, on first try, could probably have broken bones. It was hooked up to the battery, made a deafening crack, chipped the ball some 15 feet, and snapped the surgical tubing we used to limit its extension.
So, from the looks of it, the season’s getting more exciting, and I can’t wait to see (and video) the finished robot. What you can do while you’re waiting with me is read my other entries.
