Janurary 28th, 2010: Day #20- Workday
January 28th. Day 20. Still awaiting mecanum wheels. In the mean time, I learned how to update Calvin’s Corner. You of course, my faithful readers, don’t really care who updates, so long as you get to read my super fantastic totally awesome exciting entries. As far as the rest of the people in Robotics, it slowed down again. Deepa, Vishaak, Ryan, and Ben spent the day stripping the old pit of all the FlexFit on it, so we can put new colors on it this season. Sheila and David left directly after school in order to go search for potential local sponsors. They hit places such as Best Buy, Walmart, Wendy’s, Schlotzskys, Home Depot, and Price Chopper. They returned with numbers to Corporate. Guess we gotta start somewhere. Jeff also went searching, but his search was more specific. In specific, he went to DeWalt, and returned with a transmission and some other free stuff. Clearly he was successful. Closer to where I was working would be Public Relations. They worked on getting information about KC Regional and writing up the Executive Summary for the Chairman’s Award. Raj and Faiz, working in the Drafting room a few computers away from me, worked on creating a “Robotics Quiz” for everyone who would like to drive the robot this season. David, after returning from his tour of the city, worked on updating the website and teaching me to update my own portion of the website. Alex White worked on drafting a model of the pit. If you guessed, he was drafting in the Drafting room. Shocking, isn’t it? Anyways, in 520, otherwise known as Programmer Territory, they believe they got Mecanum Drive working! This is a huge success, but we are unable to test whether it will work on the real mecanum wheels, seeing as we don’t have them yet. They should (that being the key word) arrive tomorrow. Or Saturday. We think.
Either way, I hope the season picks up again. I have a lack of material to take pictures of, and am running out of creative ways to write about what’s been going on at Robotics.
