February 8th, 2010: Day #31- Workday

February 8th. Day unknown. I think it’s the 31st day of the season. A lot got done today, even though it was a Monday. So anyways, on to what got done today.

PR worked on, like before, the Chairman’s Award. In specific, they worked on the video of it. They started putting all of the videos I made into one major video. Currently, it’s being made in Movie Maker. Deepa, another part of PR, worked on the returned sponsorship letters. They had various reasons as to why they could not be sent. Thus, she reprinted sponsorship letters, *folded* them, and is working on getting them sent. David, another person in the CAD room worked to make is Webmaster job worthwhile.

Over on the build team, they worked on hanging the robot as well as a pulley for the kicker. Sean Boeck headed the hanging team, and they started with making a prototype of the motor they will be using. They also worked around the telescoping arm, because they found out that the design they have is too heavy right now, so they’re looking for a lighter material. But, on the bright side, they had a successful proof of concept. Jeff, the other project head, worked on cocking the kicker. He got the DeWalt/Fisher-Price casing/motor onto the robot, and hooked up the bike chain to reset the kicker. Now he’s just waiting on programming to complete the pneumatics so he can test his final kicker. Alec, Chris, and Ryan also got a jump start on assembling the pit. What they were using to base their ideas off of were the designs the aforementioned Alec made.

Programming worked on the pneumatics, and the triggers for it. What they explained to me was this whole long speech about limit switches and binary code and what not, and what I took out of it was basically: Making an on and off switch.

Sean Weaver worked on mounting Electronics to the robot on this really awesome plastic.

So, after a 3 day weekend, we were all really stoked to get back to work and continue progress.
