February 10th, 2010: Day #33- Workday
February 10th. Day 33. We had a long day today, and we got a correlating amount of stuff done too.
Life lesson for the day: “Lefty loosey Righty tighty.” <- Learned by Alex Guinn. Taught by Jeff Gier.
Over in the PR room, otherwise known as the CAD room, there was the hustle and bustle of the team. David worked on putting up the trading cards via Flash animation. He got tired of all the various slideshow programs that, more likely than not, did not work in the end. Sheila worked on ordering the t-shirts and organized the names into alphabetical order. The ordering was simply so she had easy access to each name. Sumathi worked on putting a video together for the Chairman’s Award. Deepa, as well, worked on the essay for the aforementioned Chairman’s Award. When I asked about more specifics for it, I got a rather loud “TOP SECRET. GO AWAY.”
On Build Team, Jeff and his mini-Giers proceded to put his prized wheels onto the real chassis. With the wheels attached, it instantly looked so much more BA. He also worked on putting the 4 transmissions onto the real chassis, as well as hooking the chains to the wheels so the robot would have movement. Alex Guinn and Aaron worked on making a gearbox (or modifying a gearbox) to fit the needs of their winch. It was made from a relative scratch, meaning they used parts they scavenged and made to fit their needs best.
Sean Weaver worked on his beloved super plastic board. Today, he drew out where all of the various electrical components go.
Programming worked on making the kicker mechanism work. This would mean they programmed the buttons for it.
It was a fun Wednesday, and soon the stress of ship date will be upon us. But until then, we’ll hold out.
