February 12th, 2010: Day #35- Workday

February 12th. Day 35.

We had a short day today, because we were all let go at 5 to go to the Pancake dinner. Mr. Ritter bought the team tickets to it as a reward for an exceptional season.

Sean Weaver worked on mounting the electronics board to the robot, and then brought it to the bump to see if it gives the robot enough clearance to still get over the bump. It does. Even with the electronics board on we still have a good two inches of clearance under the robot when it’s on the bump.

Programming worked on the same thing they worked on yesterday. State machines and limit switches. In particular, Ashwyn spent a good four hours all alone in the programming room trying to get it all done. We came back down multiple times to try and convince him to go take a break, and go down to the Pancake Dinner. Each attempt was met by stiff resistance and a “No, I have to get this done.”

Build team worked on getting the gearbox for the winch back together and machining out parts for the hanging mechanism’s true box. Jeff worked on the kicker and putting the pneumatic cylinder for it onto the robot.

Public Relations worked on the same awards they worked on yesterday. We’d really like to win the Chairman’s Award as well as the Woodie Flowers award. If the rumors are correct, then we could quite possibly win the Woodie Flowers award and have it presented by Woodie Flowers himself. That would be quite awesome.

It seems like the days are getting longer, but I have a feeling this curious feeling is because I’m staying longer each day.
