February 17th, 2010: Day #39- Workday
So it’s crunch time!! The website, the Chairman’s Award, and the Woodie Flowers Award are all due tomorrow. That means that David is finalizing everything on the website, Sumathi is the making the final edits on the Chairman’s Video, and Jenny is working on the Woodie Flowers Award. Faiz and Deepa were working on the Chairman’s Award Essay and they added Manda to help with it. Sumathi is also working on scanning a sponsor letter to send to a company and stuff for Ashwyn. On another note, it’s Ashwynsday aka Ash Wednesday!!! Build team is working on the robot and the “telescopey thing”. They’re going to mount it and work on making it work. Another part of build team is working on the bumpers for the robot. The bumpers are going to consist of plywood and then part of a Styrofoam noodle (the one you go swimming withJ) and then finally the bumper cloth. Right now they’re measuring plywood. Sean was working on the electronic board. Yesterday Mr. Ritter told Pit Crew to increase the speed and fluidity of assembling the Pit. Unfortunately, the string that criss-crosses in the pit-squares warped the PVC pipe, making the assembling of the Pit a bit tough to say the least. I think they’re going to replace the string so the PVC pipe can retain its shape. Speaking of the Pit, Sheila and Deepa cut out the pit fabric that Sheila ordered a while back. Last but not least, programming is working on the driving station in LabView and autonomous mode.
