Janurary 16th, 2010: Day #8- Workday

January 16th. Saturday. Guess who did not know there was a meeting today? Your favorite blogger Calvin. Anyways, when I got here an hour late, everyone was already hard at work. Since programming works in the main room, they were the first group I saw. They already had the robot hooked up to the ClassMate PC (Our FIRST provided notebook) and ran the programming through there. They were working on making sure the drive program from last year still worked. Sean Weaver was working furiously on the pneumatics; at that time he was just setting up the kit. Build/Design1 worked on what originally was the Surgical Tubing powered kicker. It chips the ball pretty well; just wait until we have it hooked to the aforementioned pneumatics kit. Public Relations focused on working to stalk everyone’s parents. Kidding, they were looking for companies to sponsor us. They also compiled an email list for all the members and mentors of the team. All the girls on Public Relations are not the type to make mad, since they know where everyone on the team lives… Back on topic, the people on Build team were building the transmission motors for the wheels. And now, a break for lunch.
Lunchtime! This day, it was provided by the White’s (applause). Probably the only time we all were in the same room. We ate the best gourmet food ever. Pizza, soda, and fresh baked cookies. I also got a slideshow running of every single picture I’ve taken this week. So far, that totals up to about 150 pictures of EVERYTHING. The slide show worked out pretty well, the team liked it.
After lunch, we went back to work. Build team constructed both of the bumps, and assembled them up to the tower/tunnel. Pneumatics hooked up the robot with an air push for the ball, but hasn’t been able to test it full scale yet. Public Relations went on doing the exact same thing they always are. Looking for sponsors, and finishing up the Bios for the trading cards. Ashwyn, about half way through the afternoon, went around to all of the groups to check up on all of the groups, and more importantly, make sure we’re all on task. So far, this makes 2 Saturdays I’ve spent at school and looks like I have 5 more Saturdays to go.
